Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center which has branches all over the world.
I tried yoga at a studio in Bangkok that just opened in April.
Renovated studio from a house found in the hustle and bustle of Bangkok. In the studio facing the large courtyard, I was sweating enveloped in peace and having a good morning.
Yoga Sivananda What is yoga?
What I tried this time was 'Sivananda Yoga'.
Among the various yogas, this is a school of yoga founded by Mr. Swami Sivananda which seems to be not just a pose but an attempt to practice the whole lifestyle with yoga.
Precisely ,
① Proper exercise (asana) ② Proper breathing (pranayana) ③ Proper relaxation (Shiva asana)
Proper diet (vegan) ⑤ Positive thinking (Vedanta) and meditation (Dhyana)
I have a dot.
Swami Sivananda, who was originally a Western medicine doctor, came back to India from the question "Isn't it really taking care of the heart that saves people?" It was a fun experience, it wasn't exercise, it was relaxation and sweating.
Relax and sweat slowly!
It was a heavy rain in the day, it was soaked, it was delayed by traffic jams, and I entered the studio with a bit of a hard heart, but as soon as I entered, I could feel the annoying rain yet the stillness of the studio changed to the sound of water.
First, the breathing method begins with prayer. Two types of breathing methods are said to evoke energy from the spirit, direct the energy and bring it into a state of balance.
And an introductory movement called "Sun Solution".
I stretched my body, bent over, did push-ups, stretched again, and did 12 poses a few times.
As I was aware of my breathing and doing it silently, my heart was completely at ease, my sweat was bleeding, and I was fully prepared. I was sweating and my body felt good, the calm of the studio and the teacher's voice and the sound of the rain made me so happy.
Once you're in a yoga pose, it's time to start.
This time I took part in an open class with people used to yoga.
Even though I'm used to yoga, I can't stand my hands. I struggled with the first pose, which is standing head up, but I did it with the teacher's support! Then, poses like Shachihoko, seated two-handed bodylift poses, and some tricky poses, but all well supported by the teacher, so I was able to pull it off! That sense of accomplishment and excitement.
The 12 asanas that start from this position also seem to be included in the previously mentioned five points, called asanas.
Finally, relax from face to internal organs
After the exercise, lie on your back and meditate.
At this time, the teacher calls out all parts of the body, from tiptoe to top of head, and even internal organs, saying, "Please pay attention to your toes, soles, and your ankles, and Relax."
I thought I was relaxing, but when I consciously released it, I knew it could still be released.
Especially when I consciously relaxed my facial muscles, I never thought I was relaxed. In fact, I realized that I was being too harsh.
There were difficult situations in this open class, but of course there are also classes for beginners.
And for those who want to seriously study Sivananda Yoga and would like to become a yoga teacher, there is also a month-long course in Chiang Rai. This is an intensive stay-type course where you wake up together.
Whether you want to try or you want to learn seriously, you have to hold your head!
Yoga is recommended in this quiet studio for a family.
